Does it really matter if you apply your treatment serums after your moisturizer?

The answer is YES.

Skincare can be confusing when; You don’t know your skin type and you don’t know the right way to apply your skincare products.

In our previous post, we discussed how to determine your skin type so you should probably read that right here👇🏾 before diving into this

Now that you know your skin type, let’s get right into it.

Step 1-  The first product you should use on your face is a face cleanser/ face wash because you need your face squeaky clean so that whatever products you apply after that can be properly absorbed into your pores.

Step 2-  If you have a face mask, we recommend using a face mask right after you cleanse your face. You should note that this is not an everyday step. You can use a face mask three (3) times in a week.

Step 3- You can go in with a toner if you have one but please note that each type of toner is intended for a different skin issue, so it’s important to use the right kind for your skin concern.

Step 4- Go in with your treatment serums (if any). Treatment products are super-concentrated, nutrient-dense treatments that address specific concerns, so it’s better to keep them as close to the skin as possible. Some examples are; Salicylic acid, retinol, niacinamide, e.t.c.

Step 5- It is advisable to apply eye cream at least twice a day. It helps to maintain the health and thickness of the skin on the eyelid.

Step 6- Yes, everyone needs a moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. This product will give your skin the right amount of hydration. Leaving your skin soft and supple. Moisturizers are a very important step for any skin care routine.

Step 7- We cannot overemphasize the importance of using sunscreen. It is essential for keeping your skin looking it’s best and protecting your skin from UVA and UVB rays. Make sure to use sunscreen only during the day and reapply three times daily.

Disclaimer-  All product types are subject to your skin type and skin conditions but these are the steps we advise you follow when it comes to the order you apply your skincare products.
