We thought the Ebola virus would be the last deadly virus outbreak humanity will ever witness, until Late December 2019, when China notified the World Health Organization of a string of respiratory infections in the city of Wuhan, home to about 11 million people.

The virus is known as CORONAVIRUS and at least 420 people have died and over 20,438 cases reported across the world.

The cause of the virus is unknown. Disease experts around the world have been working tirelessly to identify it and also to find a cure.

Symptoms of Coronavirus

The symptoms of coronavirus are identical to various upper respiratory infections, which includes:

  • Runny nose
  • Coughing
  • Sore throat, and sometimes a fever.

It is often difficult to distinguish between the coronavirus and any other respiratory virus, this is why it is very important to get examined if you notice any of the symptoms and have been in an infected region.

Coronavirus is highly contagious. Although there is no known cure, some individuals who were infected have recovered. They are still under surveillance to see how they were able to recover from the virus.

Preventive Measures to Avoid the Coronavirus;

  • Ensure you wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Hand sanitizers should be kept within reach at all times to disinfect your hands when soap and water are unavailable.
  • Abstain from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid direct contact with individuals with symptoms of the virus.
  • Stay at home if you are sick.
